Leveling

How XP is calculated, why some messages do not count, and role rewards.

XP curve

Level n to n+1 costs 5n² + 50n + 100 XP. Level 1 costs 155 XP, level 10 costs 1,100 XP for that single level, and the total to reach level 10 is 4,950 XP.

Each eligible message grants a random amount between your minimum and maximum (15-25 by default).

When XP is not granted

The duplicate check stops people from farming by pasting the same line every minute. It is not a full anti-spam system — AutoMod handles that.

  • The message is shorter than four characters.
  • The member is a bot, or the message is a system message.
  • The channel or one of the member roles is on the ignore list.
  • The cooldown has not elapsed (60 seconds by default).
  • The same text was already used by that member in their last three counted messages.
  • The message started with the command prefix.

Level-up messages

By default the message goes to the channel where the member talked. Set a fixed channel in /leveling channel or the dashboard. The template supports {user}, {username}, {level} and {server}.

Role rewards

A reward is a level plus a role. When a member reaches that level, Lyx adds the role if it can: the bot needs Manage Roles and its highest role must be above the reward role.

Removing a reward from the list does not remove the role from members who already have it. Remove it manually if that is what you want.
