Setup & Installation
How do I add Lyx to my server?
Use the invite link on lyx.lol or run /setup after adding. You need "Manage Server" permission.
What permissions does Lyx need?
See the Required Permissions page. Key permissions: Manage Server, Manage Roles, Manage Channels, Kick/Ban/Moderate Members, Manage Messages, View/Send Messages, Embed Links, Use Slash Commands.
Why can't I see my server in the dashboard?
You need "Manage Server" permission on a server where Lyx is installed. If Lyx was just added, wait a minute and refresh.
Commands aren't showing up after invite
Global slash commands can take up to 1 hour to propagate. Try typing / in Discord to trigger the list.
Features & Usage
How do I set up welcome messages?
Use /welcome setup channel:#welcome message:"Welcome {user}!" or the dashboard's Welcome page for embeds with live preview.
How does auto-moderation work?
Enable with /automod enable, then configure rules like /automod spam max_messages:5 time_window:10. Each rule can delete, warn, timeout, or alert.
Can I customize the bot's responses?
Yes, welcome/goodbye messages, embeds, and logging formats are fully customizable. Moderation responses use standardized formats.
How do warnings work?
/warn @user reason creates a tracked warning. View with /warnings @user, remove with /warning remove, clear with /warning clear.
What are cases?
Every moderation action creates a numbered case with moderator, target, action, reason, and timestamp. View with /modlogs @user or /case #42.
How do I set up logging?
/logs setup channel:#mod-logs then /logs events message_deletes:true member_joins:true moderation:true. Configure ignored channels/roles to reduce noise.
Can I use Lyx for multiple servers?
Yes! Add Lyx to each server. The dashboard lets you switch between servers you manage.
Permissions & Hierarchy
Why do I get "Missing Permissions"?
Check: 1) You have the required permission, 2) Lyx's role is above the target role, 3) Lyx's role is above the role you're managing, 4) No channel overwrites block it.
Can Lyx manage roles higher than itself?
No. Discord's hierarchy prevents bots from managing roles ≥ their highest role. Move Lyx's role up in Server Settings → Roles.
Why can't I timeout/ban a specific user?
The user has a role ≥ Lyx's highest role, or ≥ your highest role (unless you're server owner). Check role hierarchy.
What permissions do moderators need?
Moderators need the specific Discord permission for each action (Kick Members, Ban Members, Moderate Members, Manage Messages, Manage Channels, Manage Nicknames, Manage Roles).
Dashboard
How do I access the dashboard?
Go to lyx.lol/dashboard, click "Login with Discord", authorize, and select your server.
Why am I logged out randomly?
Sessions last 30 days. Clearing cookies, using incognito, or revoking sessions will log you out. Check "Active Sessions" in Account settings.
Can I use the dashboard on mobile?
Yes, the dashboard is fully responsive. Sidebar becomes a drawer, tables scroll horizontally, forms stack vertically.
Settings show "Saved" but don't work
Some settings require bot restart (dashboard shows notice). Verify bot is online. Check Lyx has required permissions for the feature.
Billing & Legal
Is there a premium version?
Currently all features are free. Future premium features may be added but core functionality will remain free.
What data does Lyx collect?
See Privacy Policy. We collect: Discord user/guild IDs, configuration, moderation cases, audit logs. No message content except for moderation cases.
How do I delete my data?
Remove Lyx from your server (triggers 30-day deletion), or use Account → Delete Account in dashboard, or email [email protected].
